The purpose of this site is to help individuals achieve their goals by providing the necessary information, motivation, and group support. If you have failed to achieve goals in the past because of lack of planning, procrastination, desire, etc, then you will find the resources provided here very useful. What makes this site different from other personal development programs is that it goes beyond just providing the necessary information, and motivation. Here you will find other people with similar goals who you will talk to via conference calls on a weekley basis. These people will be there as your peers and mentors. Every week you will make your progress know to everyone in your group.

What you will need?

1) Become a member.
2) Read the material on how to achieve goals.
3) In your blog, make a step by step plan to achieve your goal, and write about your daily progress.
4) Download Skype to make the weekly conference calls.
download Skype
5) In your Google calendar, state the time and day you would prefer for your weekly conference calls.

You will be getting an e-mail shortly with the time and date of your first meeting.

Hope you have fun!

How to achieve goals?

I've gone through some literature on the subject, and I've come up with a system that integrates the best of each. I will talk about two different ways of working towards goals, and a jump start procedure to keep you on track.

Method 1:

This method uses a linear approach to goal setting were you state the future achievement you would like to have, and then decide on the step by step actions you must take in order to meet your goal. Set aside about 2 hours for this exercise, and make sure that you will not be interrupted. Drink water, go to the bathroom, and make sure you finish. This might be the most productive two hours of your life.

The steps:

1. Think about one goal you want to achieve. It might be helpful to think about many different goals you want, and then decide on the one area/thing that will make the most difference in your life once you have achieved it. If you don't know where to start, consider working on your heath/fitness, for any improvement in this area, will help you in other areas as well. When describing your goal, describe it in positive terms. Write about what you want, not about what you don't want. Next, you want to be specific. Imagine yourself achieving your goal, and notice in detail what your thoughts would be, your emotions, your actions, what will you see, hear, smell, taste. Write it down. This is important, for you will start to realize the current gap that exist between your present state and the desired state. The final thing you need to do, is to write a paragraph about all the reasons why you must achieve this goal.

2. Write a paragraph about what is preventing you from achieving you goal at the present moment. Is is lack of energy? Do you lack commitment? Do you lack time? Do you lack education?

3. Think about what type of person you will need to become to achieve your goal. Will you have to be more courageous? Will you have to develop better time management?
Here it might be useful to look for somebody who has achieved your goal, and start asking yourself what qualities do they have that you want to model. If your goal is to become rich, it might be useful to study somebody like Donald Trump, and then model the qualities that will enable you to achieve your goal. At this step, I would suggest you start multitasking to develop your resources at a faster pace. If for example you decide that something that's preventing you from achieving your goal is your lack motivation, then listen to motivational tapes while you're cooking, in the car, or at the gym. You can also get a text to speech reader, and acquire more information that way.

4. Now create a step by step plan to achieve your goal. Think about how much time you believe it will take, and then write down what you must accomplish each year, month, week, and day. Every day should bring you closer to your goal. Make a plan for your day the night before, and once the day is over, review the objectives you had made the night before, and compare them with how the day went. What went well? What needs improvement? Adjust your tactics so that you can be more effective as each day goes by. Do something today that will move you towards your goal.

Method 2:

Many times we have problems moving toward our goals because we have grown so accustomed to our lives, that even though we would like to become a different person, it is hard to event imagine being different, since we identify with who we are at the present moment. The goal here is to shift your identity from the present person you are, to one that will think and act differently. How do you think Donald Trump would feel if he had "only" one million dollars in his bank account? He would probably feel broke and a failure. So, you need to start switching your identity so that you can grow at a higher rate. One way to do this is to imagine how you would think, feel and act if you had achieved your goal, and try to incorporate those things into your daily life. Now, this must be done with caution. Don't start buying expensive items if you're broke, that will be counter productive. Instead start carrying more money in your wallet, read financials, make rich friends, etc.

30 day challenge:

Once you have your plan, the most important thing is that you start taking action. You should use a Ready-Fire-Aim approach. If something you do doesn't work, think about how you could make it work.

At fist your mind might rebel against your attempts to change yourself. You have had a life time of conditioning that you will have to overcome if you want to make changes in your life. So, you need to take the following challenge:

For 30 days, review you're goals twice a day. Once when you get up, and once before you go to bed. I've mentioned a couple of things you should do daily, so stick to them for 30 days. The purpose of this, is to give yourself a chance to really evaluate this method. You will be developing many skills like discipline in the process. At the end of 30 days, you should evaluate your progress and decide if the method/goal is really worth your time. If you decide to continue, you will have established a habit, and now will take a minimum effort to continue with the program. Regarding the qualities you must develop to achieve your goal, everyday concentrate on developing one of the qualities you want. Do this until you run out of qualities you wish to develop, then start again from the beginning.
